The Cerakote Process

As industry professionals, 2nd Caliber handles each step of our process with precision and care. We treat your asset(s) like our own. Cerakote is easy to purchase. Stencils are too. However, from start to finish, there are intricate details that go into this art. We have thousands of hours of experience creating our customers visions. Please let the experts Cerakote your firearm – 2nd Caliber.

How It Works

Gunsmithing/Breakdown – All parts of each order are dismantled carefully, inspected, and bagged along with your service ticket.

Sandblasting – Each item being customized by 2nd Caliber is fully sandblasted with our industrial strength sandblaster which includes HEPA filtration. Air pressure connecting to the trigger is checked daily to ensure accurate blast power. This protects your assets(s) from being marred by sandblasting media.

Cerakote – Each individual item is securely hung in our state of the art paint booth. A test “sprayout” is done on paper to ensure air pressure is accurate along with the spray pattern. Cerakote is applied at no more than 1 mil (that’s 1,000th of an inch!)

Stenciling – We use Avery Dennison High Heat Vinyl for all our stencil work along with a commercial grade vinyl cutter. This ensures precision cuts and adhesion to your firearm parts throughout the Cerakote and curing process.

Curing – Each individual item is cured in our laboratory grade curing oven. Cerakote H-Series requires a specific curing time based on the material.

Reassembly and Final Inspection – Each item is carefully inspected for coating flaws and fully reassembled.

Degreasing – Each item in the raw is degreased to ensure no moisture is present prior to beginning the coating process. As industry professionals, we take this added step to ensure the end product lasts as long as possible.

Safe – All of your personal possessions are stored in our top of the line BROWNING safe.
